Comments
Leave internal notes on a candidate that only your team can see, with @mentions.
What it does
Internal notes on a candidate, visible only to your team. Comments support @mentions (which notify the person you mention) and basic formatting.
How to use it
-
Write a comment
Type in the comment box at the top of the Comments tab. Typing
@opens the mention picker. -
Post
Press ⌘+Enter or click Comment.
-
Edit
Hover your own comment and click Edit. The comment shows “edited” and the edit timestamp.
Who can see comments
Comments are internal — only Nextal users with access to the candidate see them. Clients never see comments, even when you forward the candidate to them. Use comments freely for things you would never want a client or the candidate themselves to read.
Mentions and notifications
Type @ to open a teammate picker. Pick a person and they receive:
- An in-app notification (top-right bell).
- An email if their notification preferences allow it.
Mentions are clickable — clicking the mention in any comment jumps to that user’s profile.
Tips
- Comment after every interaction. 30-second note after a phone call beats 30 minutes of “what did I tell them?” three weeks later.
- Use comments for context. “Asked for $95k base, would consider $80k + equity” is the kind of nuance that does not fit in a structured field but matters for the offer call.
- Don’t over-mention. Mentioning everyone for every comment becomes noise. Mention only when you need an answer.
