Client custom properties
Client custom properties extend the built-in client record fields with data points that are unique to how your organization manages its client relationships. A staffing firm might add fields for preferred candidate profiles or service-level agreements; an in-house team might track business-unit owners or budget codes. Whatever your team needs to capture consistently, custom properties are where you define it.
Property types
| Type | Best used for |
|---|---|
| Text | Account codes, contract numbers, key contact names |
| Number | Annual headcount target, contract value tier |
| Date | Contract renewal date, last review date |
| Dropdown | Client tier, industry vertical, region |
| Multiple choice | A fixed list where more than one option can be selected |
Adding a property
- Go to Configuration → ATS settings → Client and open the Customize tab.
- Click Add new value.
- Set the Active toggle.
- Choose the Type from the dropdown.
- If your account supports more than one language, select the Language and enter the Label for each language.
- Click Save.
The property appears on all client profiles immediately.
Reordering and deactivating
Use the ▲▼ arrows to reorder properties. Deactivate any property that is no longer relevant — existing client records retain their stored values, but the field is hidden from the profile and from filters.
There is no delete action for custom properties — a property can only be deactivated or reordered.
Managing options for Dropdown and Multiple choice fields
For fields of type Dropdown or Multiple choice, an “Edit values” action is available on the row. This opens a panel where you can:
- Add new option — add an option to the list.
- Reorder options using the ▲▼ arrows.
- Edit Option — rename an option (per language if multi-language).
- Delete Option — remove an option from the list.
Tips
- Coordinate with your CRM or business-development team before adding client properties. A field that duplicates data already managed in another system creates maintenance overhead.
- Use Dropdown or Multiple choice for fields that feed reports — client tier, region, and industry are far more useful as consistent dropdown values than as free-text entries with dozens of near-identical variants.
- Date properties are excellent for proactive account management. A “Contract renewal” date field makes it easy to filter for clients whose contracts are expiring within 90 days.
- Avoid duplicating built-in fields. Client name, address, and primary contact are already captured by Nextal. Custom properties should add what is genuinely missing.
