Fill candidate survey on behalf
Fill a candidate’s survey on their behalf during a phone screen or in-person interview — the survey form opens with all questions; submit captures the answers as a recruiter-entered response.
Fill out a survey on behalf of the candidate — typically during a phone screen or in-person intake when you have the candidate on the line and want to capture their answers directly into Nextal without sending them a separate link.
When to use this
Use it when:
- You’re on a screening call with the candidate and capturing structured answers as you go.
- The candidate isn’t a self-serve user (over the phone, in-person, no email).
- You need to record answers a candidate gave verbally during an interview.
For self-serve, see Send candidate survey — the candidate fills it themselves.
How to open it
- Open the candidate’s profile (or use the applicant menu from the kanban, depending on your setup).
- Pick Fill survey. The sidebar opens with a Survey picker.
What you fill in
Survey
Dropdown of available surveys. Pick the one whose questions you want to fill.
Survey fields
Once a survey is picked, every question in it is rendered as the appropriate form field — text input, multiple-choice, dropdown, date picker, file upload, signature pad, etc. Required fields are marked; the form blocks submission if any are missing.
Read-only after save
What happens when you click Save
The survey response is recorded against the candidate. It shows up on their profile under Surveys & feedback, alongside any responses they’ve given themselves. The system marks the response as recorded by you (not by the candidate) — useful when later reading the answers to know whether it came from the candidate directly or via a recruiter.

Tips
- Fill while the call is live. Tab through the form as you talk; it’s faster than taking notes and re-typing later.
- If you have to leave a field blank, mark it for follow-up in your task list — the sidebar won’t let you edit the survey response later.
- Tell the candidate. If you’re entering their answers, let them know it’s being recorded — basic transparency.
