Hire candidate
Mark the candidate as hired — short sidebar with one toggle: do you want to close the job at the same time?
“Hire” marks the candidate as hired for this job. The sidebar has a single decision to make: do you want to also close the job at the same time?
When to use this
Use Hire when an offer has been accepted and the role is filled. This is the final positive state on the kanban; once hired, the candidate stops moving through the workflow.
How to open it
- Find the candidate on the kanban.
- Open the applicant menu on the card.
- Pick Hire. The sidebar slides in from the right.

What it does
Hired candidate(s)
Read-only list of who you’re hiring — shown as badges. Multi-hire is supported (rare, but possible for shift-based or volume hiring).
Close job toggle
On by default. When on, saving also marks the job as filled and closes it. When off, the candidate is marked hired but the job stays open.
What happens when you save
If the Close job toggle is on, you’ll see one footer button: Close job. Clicking it marks the candidate(s) as hired and closes the job — the job stops accepting new applications and moves into a closed state.
If the toggle is off, you’ll see one footer button: Save. Clicking it marks the candidate(s) as hired but leaves the job open. Other candidates remain in their statuses and can still be moved.
Hiring multiple candidates
You can multi-select candidates with the kanban checkboxes and use the bulk Hire action — all selected candidates are marked hired at once. Useful for batch hires (call-center cohort, retail seasonal, etc.).

Tips
- Close the job when you hire, unless you’re still actively considering candidates for the same role (open backfill scenarios are rare).
- Hiring doesn’t send the candidate a notification by itself. Send a welcome / start-date confirmation email separately via Send candidate email.
- Want to reverse a hire? Move the candidate back to an earlier kanban status. The hire is undone; if the job was closed, you’ll need to reopen it via the job detail page.
