Survey template — questions
The Questions tab is where you build the questionnaire for a survey template. You design it once; every time a recruiter or HR manager sends this survey, respondents see exactly these questions in this order.
The four sections
The Questions tab is organized into four sections. Each section has its own add button and list of items:
| Section | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Welcome Screens | Introductory screens shown to respondents before the first question. Each screen has a title and a description (rich text). |
| Screener Questions | The main set of questions. These are the questions respondents answer in the survey. |
| Demographic Questions | Optional questions about the respondent’s background (e.g., age range, region). |
| Thank You Screens | Closing screens shown after the respondent submits. Each screen has a title and a description. |
Adding an item
Click the Add button at the top of each section to append a new item. For screener and demographic questions, you configure:
| Setting | What it controls |
|---|---|
| Type | How the respondent answers (see below). |
| Required | Whether the respondent must answer this question before submitting. |
| Question | The question text as the respondent will read it. |
| Description | Additional context displayed below the question text. |
Question types
| Type | Description |
|---|---|
| Text | An open-ended text answer. You can set minimum and maximum length. |
| Date | The respondent picks a date. |
| Dropdown | The respondent picks one option from a list you define. Supports “Allow other”, “Randomize”, and “Alphabetical Order” options. |
| Multiple choice | The respondent picks one or more options from a list you define. You can set minimum and maximum selections. Supports “Randomize” and “Alphabetical Order” options. |
| Number | A numeric answer. You can set minimum and maximum values. |
| Rating | A numeric scale. You set the range (number of steps). |
| Website | The respondent enters a URL. |
| Boolean | A Yes/No question. |
For “Dropdown” and “Multiple choice” types, you manage the list of answer options inside the question editor. Each option can be set as Active or Inactive, and you can reorder them with the ▲ ▼ arrows.
Reordering items
Items within each section are reordered using the ▲ (up) and ▼ (down) arrow buttons shown in the “Order” column. The order arrows are only visible when the template is in Draft status.
Deleting an item
Click the “Delete” option in the action menu on an item to remove it. Deletion is only available when the template is in Draft status.
Tips
- Put your most important question near the top of the Screener Questions section. Respondents may not complete all questions, and drop-off increases toward the end.
- Use “Rating” for dimensions you want to track over time — they aggregate nicely in the Results tab.
- Use “Required” sparingly. Forcing an answer on every question increases abandonment.
