Twilio

Who can use it
Administrators with integrations access

The Twilio integration connects Nextal to your Twilio account so recruiters can send SMS messages to candidates directly from the kanban board, the candidate profile, and the SMS inbox — and receive replies in the same thread. Only one SMS provider can be active at a time; enabling Twilio automatically disables ClickSend, and vice versa.

What it does

  • Enables outbound and inbound SMS messaging with candidates using a Twilio phone number.
  • Powers SMS template sending, quick messages from the kanban board, and the conversational SMS inbox.
  • Replaces ClickSend when activated (only one SMS provider can be active at a time).

Prerequisites

  • An active Twilio account.
  • A Twilio Account SID — visible on the Twilio Console dashboard.
  • A Twilio Auth Token — also on the Twilio Console dashboard. Treat this like a password; it is stored securely and entered separately.
  • A Twilio phone number that is SMS-capable, purchased through the Twilio Console.

How to activate

  1. Go to Administration → Integrations and find the Twilio card.
  2. Click Edit to open the configuration panel.
  3. Toggle Activate on.
  4. Enter your Phone Number (the Twilio number in E.164 format, e.g. +15141234567).
  5. Enter your Account SID.
  6. Click Save. The integration activates and ClickSend (if previously active) is automatically deactivated.
  7. Back on the card, click Edit Auth Token to enter your Twilio Auth Token in the secure credential panel. Enter the token and click Update Auth Token.

SettingDescription

Account SIDYour Twilio Account SID, used to identify your Twilio account.
Auth TokenYour Twilio Auth Token. Entered via the separate Edit Auth Token panel for security.

Tips

  • Use a dedicated Twilio number for recruiting. Sharing a number with other Twilio use cases can mix message threads and complicate compliance.
  • Test with an internal number first. Send yourself a test message from the candidate profile before announcing SMS functionality to recruiters.
  • Rotate the Auth Token from Twilio’s console, then update it here. If your token is ever compromised, change it in Twilio first, then use the Edit Auth Token flow here to update Nextal.
  • Disabling Twilio stops all ongoing SMS. In-progress reply threads will not receive further messages until you re-enable the integration or switch to ClickSend.
