ClickSend
The ClickSend integration connects Nextal to your ClickSend account so recruiters can send SMS messages to candidates directly from the kanban board, the candidate profile, and the SMS inbox — and receive replies in the same thread. Only one SMS provider can be active at a time; enabling ClickSend automatically disables Twilio, and vice versa.
What it does
- Enables outbound and inbound SMS messaging with candidates using a ClickSend phone number.
- Powers SMS template sending, quick messages from the kanban board, and the conversational SMS inbox.
- Replaces Twilio when activated (only one SMS provider can be active at a time).
Prerequisites
- An active ClickSend account.
- Your ClickSend Username (your ClickSend login email or API username).
- Your ClickSend API Key — available in the ClickSend dashboard under API Credentials. Treat this like a password; it is stored securely and entered separately.
- A ClickSend phone number that is SMS-capable.
How to activate
- Go to Administration → Integrations and find the ClickSend card.
- Click Edit to open the configuration panel.
- Toggle Activate on.
- Enter your Phone Number (the ClickSend number messages are sent from).
- Enter your Username (ClickSend API username).
- Click Save. The integration activates and Twilio (if previously active) is automatically deactivated.
- Back on the card, click Edit API Key to enter your ClickSend API Key in the secure credential panel. Enter the key and click Update API Key.
Settings
| Setting | Description |
|---|---|
| Activate | Toggle. Enables or disables SMS sending via ClickSend. Turning this off stops all outbound SMS immediately. |
| Phone Number | The ClickSend phone number messages are sent from. |
| Username | Your ClickSend API username (typically your account email address). |
| API Key | Your ClickSend API key. Entered via the separate Edit API Key panel for security. |
Tips
- Only one SMS provider can be active. If Twilio is already configured and active, activating ClickSend will replace it. Existing message threads are preserved but future messages will go through ClickSend.
- Test before going live. Send a test SMS from a candidate profile to an internal number to confirm the ClickSend credentials are correct.
- Update the API Key via the dedicated button. If you regenerate your ClickSend API key, use the Edit API Key flow on the card — do not try to save a new key through the main Edit panel.
- Disabling ClickSend stops all ongoing SMS. In-progress reply threads will not receive further messages until you re-enable the integration or switch to Twilio.
